Top 5 reasons watches are cool again

"Why would you wear a watch, that’s what your iPhone is for?" How many times have you heard this question asked and answered over the last few years? Probably a lot. In the age where iPhones rule our lives, most of us have forgotten how fun watches can be. Truth be told, we’ve been really excited about watches at Cultivate, especially as we’ve brought in new brands.

Recently, watches have gained significant traction as the must have item, adding a cool-factor to what was previously just a naked wrist (scandalous)! One thing that has helped breathe life back into the watch market is the end of all the seriousness. Enough already! Watches don’t have to be super expensive, heavy or clunky, uncomfortable or even something that only tells time. Watches have changed, they’re back in fashion, and the market is being redefined. Watch manufacturers are jumping onboard this "trend" by upping their game and creating watches people want to wear.

1.) It’s not always polite to look at your phone. How many times have you been in a business meeting with clients and had no idea how much time had passed or had an opportunity to look at your phone without appearing rude? All you want to do is make sure you’re not late for your next meeting, but you can’t! A watch is considerably more polite and always on your arm.

2.) Watches are a socially acceptable accessory for both men and women. Not many consumer products out there can please both genders equally. Watches are the one accessory that can be worn as either a statement piece or a classic addition to a great outfit regardless of gender. Rules? There are no rules when it comes to selecting the perfect watch for your arm.

3.) Watches are very customizable, making watch wearers feel unique. One of our favorite watch brands right now is Daniel Wellington. Part of the success of this brand, aside from it’s A-lister celebrity wearers and influencers, is how customizable each watch is. Every watch comes with an interchangeable watch band, which means the choice of which band you want to wear is up to you. What’s not to love about the freedom to select based on your mood or outfit on any given day!

4.) Most people don’t own a watch they want to wear. Most of us have an old, daily watch we either wore ages ago and never replaced or we have a super expensive, wear-only-on-important-occasions family heirloom watch that’s tucked away. We’ve learned that when guests have a watch gift experience they’re blown away by how grown up and official their new watches makes them feel.
